This is a Manual Lymphatic Drainage treatment which may incorporate Remedial Massage techniques, where needed.
Unlike Remedial Massage this is a manual treatment using mild stretching of the connective tissue and rhythmic strokes to increase flow of lymphatic fluid throughout the body, decongest lymphatic ducts and facilitate the elimination of toxins from the body.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is ideal for:
- Fluid retention
- Lymphoedema
- Sinusitis / hay fever
- Dentistry
- Liposculpture
- Breast surgery (segmental, simple & total mastectomy)
- Headaches / Migraine
- Pain relief and anti-inflammatory
- Gastro-enterology (constipation & digestive disorders like IBS)
- Carpel tunnel
- Pre and post surgery
- Post sporting
- CFS (myelgic encephalomyelitis) / fibromyalgia
- Bruising (inter and intra muscular)
- Oedema (swelling) during pregnancy
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is not a suitable treatment if you have any of the following conditions:
- Malignant tumors
- Acute viral inflammation
- Acute bronchitis
- Asthma due to heart problems (related to the vagus nerve)
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Arteriosclerosis (possibility of plaque dislodgement)
- Undiagnosed abdominal pain
- Acute hypotension (extremely low blood pressure)
- Hyperthyroidisms (over function of the thyroid)
